Client: Novamedix, Andover
Problem: To create artwork, illustrations, instruction books and carton labelling for their new product - a wraparound surgical device that aids healing to specific areas by the application of a magnetic impulse garment.
Market: NHS and private hospitals worldwide.
Creative Solution 1: White Cat Design were asked to work alongside the garment developers, from whose final CAD drawings we needed to produce artwork and cutters for the garments themselves. The first project development we worked on with them was for a calf garment that had to be made and overprinted in three sizes and for the left and right leg for each size. Because the product was being sold in 8 countries, it was agreed that the most effective way for each garment to carry quick and easy directions for use was to create simple illustrations that clearly showed how to pick the right size for the patient and then fit it correctly. Kim created the illustrations as simple line drawings.
Creative Solution 2: White Cat Design were also asked to produce a mono 8 page A4 technical instruction and specification leaflet. Using copy supplied by the client and by 7 translation services, Kim designed and artworked one 8 page leaflet that could be placed in the boxes for all of the garment sizes, thereby negating the need to print 3 different leaflets. She artworked the leaflet to contain all of the 8 languages, including Mandarin, Japanese and Korean! All proofing of the garment and leaflet was carried out globally via emailed PDF proofs.
Creative Solution 3: Once the garment and leaflets artworks had been sent to the USA where they are produced, White Cat Design produced labels for the cartons which clearly showed the sizes, usage, handling and storage instructions clearly in the same 8 languages.
Client feedback: The client was very pleased with all of our work, and with the patience, support and understanding we were able to provide for the whole design and product development of the project. We needed to work very closely with the client at all times and were required to understand and implement all legal specifications in creation and labelling. We have since repeated the exercise with more of this company's products, and look forward to many more!
