Client: BDS
Problem: To client wanted a new catalogue that was completely different form anything they or any of their competitors had ever produced.
Market: wholesale and retail suppliers of stationery products.

Creative Solution: Kim designed a completely different stationery supply catalogue to any other! It was light, airy, colourful, easy to read and had easily identifiable sections and sub-sections. She also placed interesting little trade-related facts and news snippets throughout the whole catalogue to add an extra dimension and interest. On approval of the concept and design, Kim and a sub-contracted pre-press artworker produced all 48 pages in Quark Xpress, using copy and images supplied by the client. All of the supplied images required cut outs, clipping paths and most needed minor retouching. Each page needed to be individually laid out to ensure it was as legible, understandable and as interesting as possible, whilst keeping to a 16 column grid and all of the BDS brand guidelines. All proofing stages were carried out in sections via PDFs on-line in order to negate paper wastage, and the final catalogue was supplied to the client on CD both as a print-ready PDF and a screen resolution PDF available for download from the client's website.
Client Feedback: The Clients were very excited by the refreshing and original design of their new catalogue and with the quality of the artwork. Artwork for the whole project was signed off after only 2 proof stages for all 48 pages, and despite it never being intended for print, the clients liked it so much that they organised a small print run anyway!
